Albert Johan Kramer - 7 feet 9.5 inches (237.5 cm)

Albert Johan Kramer was born in Amsterdam, the Netherlands on the 15th of June 1897 and died on 4 April 1976. He had one brother and four sisters. His birth weight was 8.5 kg (19 lbs). At the age of 7 he was said to be already 2 m. (6 ft. 7 in.) tall and at the age of 21 his heigth was 2.28 m. (7 ft. 6 in.). His final height was 7'9.5" (237.5 cm), although his maximum reported height was 2.69 m. (8 ft. 9ľ in.) (1). He weighed 165 kg (364 lbs). He worked as a vaudeville artist in the Netherlands, Germany, UK and USA. His artists’ names were Lofty (UK) and Jan van Albert (USA, Europe) In 1920, he met his wife Wilhelmina Fässler (born on the 1st of March 1896) who lived in and was born in Appenzell in Switzerland. Her brother, Josef, born in 1894 was a hypopituitary midget with a final height of 87 cm (2 ft 10 in)(2). Josef Fässler was also a vaudeville artist and called himself “Seppetoni”# and together with his brother in law he acted in showbusines. In the UK, Albert Johan Kramer worked together with another midget, Fred Aslett (also known as “Pip”), who was claimed to be 70 cm (2 ft 4 in) tall. The Swiss anthropologist Schlaginhaufen examined Kramer in July 1923 in Albisgütli (Switzerland) (3). He was able to register 40 anthropometric data except his overall height, because of “Geschäftsgeheimnis” (professional secrecy), reported by Kramer himself as 2.54 m.(8 ft. 4 in.). On the basis of the anthropometric measurements, Kramer was characterized by von Schlaginhaufen as: “Brachykephalie, Leptoprosopie, Mesenie, Lepto- bis Hyperleptorrhinie, Dolochocheirie, helle Iris (Martin 13-14), blonde Haare (ca. M. Fischer-Saller)”. Like other authors, he also was convinced that Kramer did not suffer from acromegaly (1;3). On 31 August 1958 his height was listed at 2.44 m. (8 ft. 1 in.) (3-5).
